AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Panhandle PBS hosts its first statewide meeting of leaders from all 10 PBS stations in Texas following federal funding cuts.
This meeting was scheduled to discuss the expansion of Texas-made programming, exploring shared services, and developing strategies to increase revenue.
Congress has cut over $1 billion in federal funding for public media, impacting nearly a third of Panhandle PBS’s budget.
“I think the first and most important thing to say is that we’re so fortunate that we have this organization, this Texas PBS organization where we don’t feel like one small station out here in a very rural area kind of going it alone, because we’ve got the partnership of this group, of all the other stations,” said Julie Grimes, general manager for Panhandle PBS.
