ALLEN COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — A farmer is recovering after being nearly buried in a 10,000-bushel grain bin full of corn Thursday night in rural Allen County.

The emergency unfolded around 7:45 p.m. at Bernsten Farms, 3061 Utah Road near La Harpe. The Allen County Sheriff’s Office said the farmer was working inside the bin when the corn shifted, trapping him.

Crews from La Harpe, Iola, Colony and Anderson County worked for four hours to free him. He was taken by ambulance to a county hospital.
