GLENWOOD, Iowa (WOWT) - Iowa investigation authorities said Friday that the man taken into custody after two people were killed in a shooting two days earlier has died.
Dennis Burnell, 71, was critically injured in the fire but was taken into custody upon exiting his burning home. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation identified him as “the person responsible” for the deaths of Brandon Oman, age 38, and his 35-year-old wife, Stevie Oman, on Wednesday.
Burnell was taken to a hospital for treatment of extensive burn injuries and was in critical condition until his death Friday.
An autopsy will be conducted, Iowa DCI said in the release.
