Alaska State Troopers now say a woman’s injuries in a Soldotna case earlier this week were self-inflicted — and that she’s accused of murdering a 78-year-old man.

According to Alaska State Troopers, 31-year-old Lashaunda Lewis of Virginia has been charged with Domestic Violence Murder in the First Degree and two counts of Domestic Violence Murder in the Second Degree in the death of John Dove Jr.

Investigators with the Alaska Bureau of Investigation determined Lewis killed Dove at his home in Soldotna, then injured herself.

The case began on August 5th, when troopers responded to a welfare check at Dove’s residence. They found him dead and Lewis suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
