SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Police say a four-year-old boy has died after sustaining a gunshot wound at a home in Springfield.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Friday in the 900 block of North Fulbright near Nichols Street.

Police responded to the report of a child who had shot himself after getting hold of a gun.

He was rushed to the hospital, but died this afternoon, police said.

Police are still investigating whether the gunshot was accidental.
