ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Walking for Rochester has announced its fifth official program, 'Cleanups on the Water,' aimed at removing litter from the city's rivers and waterfront trails.

This initiative, which involves volunteers cleaning up both on foot and by boat, comes as the organization prepares to celebrate its five-year anniversary next month.

"So we're in phase two of our total five phases," said Matt Apple, CEO of Walking for Rochester. "This phase is developing our programs but also correcting the litter that's on the street."

Walking for Rochester started as a small volunteer program and has grown significantly over the years. The organization is dedicated to creating a cleaner and more sustainable community through its various initiatives.
