ATLANTA ( WANF /Gray News) - An active shooter alert was issued earlier on Friday at the Emory University campus in Atlanta.

According to authorities, the shooting was reported at Emory Point CVS.

“RUN. HIDE. FIGHT. Avoid the area,” the university shared.

It is not known what led up to the shooting.

An officer from the Atlanta Police Department was sent to Emory University Hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

Atlanta police later updated the situation, saying the lone suspected gunman was also dead and lifted the shelter-in-place just after 6:30 p.m. local time.
