KINROSS TOWNSHIP — The Kinross Township Volunteer Fire Department has secured additional time to find a new home for its equipment and trucks, following a lease extension from the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation.

The department’s current fire hall, located at the Chippewa County International Airport, was set to lose its lease in November. Without the extension, township officials were left scrambling for an alternative location to house their emergency vehicles and gear.

Now, the Chippewa County EDC has granted a reprieve, extending the lease through April 1, 2026. After that date, the building will be used exclusively by the airport for firefighting training and emergency services, in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements.
