PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) -- The Trump administration signed an executive order last week, on July 31, to re-implement the presidential fitness test, giving Peoria schools a challenge for the future.

With the academic year still in its early days, one school in Peoria that is figuring out how to implement the new fitness standards is Mark Bills Middle School.

Sean Carpen is the physical education teacher at Mark Bills Middle School and said that this program will push students to be more competitive and promote a healthier lifestyle.

"I think that having that external motivation to be physically active, to live healthier lifestyles is something that these kids are currently lacking," Carpen said.
