PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Kindergarten through 8th-grade students are experiencing the magical world of Harry Potter in their schools.
Peoria Public Schools experimented with a house learning system last spring and are officially implementing it for the school year. Students are randomly split into four different houses, where they will compete for the entire school year to gain points.
"Each house has different symbols, different things they represent. Staff members and students alike are sorted into these houses. Students earn points through the house system for things like going above and beyond, for academic achievements, and positive things," said Dr. Nicole Couri-Malson, executive director for Peoria Public Schools.
