PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Inc. or PCCEO, the long-time Community Action Agency, is losing its two largest state grant funding sources.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity sent a letter informing the organization of its intent to terminate the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) grants.
That amounts to $2.27 million in LIHEAP funding and $679,000 CSBG money. Both are funding sources that support those who are vulnerable and in some of the greatest need in the community. The money has allowed many to remain self-sufficient and find a new footing to sustain themselves.
