SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Firefighters in Springfield are working to put out a large fire on Rocus Street Friday evening.

According to Springfield Fire Captain Drew Piemonte, crews were actively working to knock down the flames as of 7 p.m. Friday.

22News crews could see a large amount of heavy smoke billowing from a scrap yard located in the area.

The Springfield Fire Department confirmed the incident as a working fire, but has not provided additional information. The source and cause of the fire have not yet been released. No information on possible injuries was immediately available.
