AUBURN — It's a near certainty that Auburn football will have to produce on the field to secure a third consecutive top-10 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. But Hugh Freeze and his staff have landed a significant addition to the class prior to the season.

Jase Mathews, a four-star wide receiver from Leakesville, Mississippi, announced his commitment to the Tigers on Friday. A consensus four-star recruit, Mathews chose Auburn from four finalists, which included LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. According to 247Sports' composite ratings, Mathews is the No. 117 player in the class and the 13th-best player at his position.

Mathews' junior season was productive, as he caught 68 passes for Greene County (Miss.) High School, averaging 16.7 yards per reception. That was good for 1,138 recei
