LA SVEGAS (KLAS) -- The FBI has fired the former head of the Las Vegas field office weeks after department leaders reassigned him to a new post, according to reports.

Spencer Evans left the Las Vegas office in July, the 8 News Now Investigators reported that month, adding that the department had reassigned him to a leadership job in Alabama.

The New York Times and Reuters reported this week that the department has since fired Spencer and other employees.

In June, the Times reported Evans was likely to be reassigned in what they called a wave of “retaliation” from the Trump administration.

Following President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, leadership at the U.S. Department of Justice asked senior FBI leadership, including Evans, to resign or be fired, CBS News reported.
