LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A scam circulating in North Las Vegas is trying to victimize people who believe they have a loved one in the city jail.

A social media post on X from the City of North Las Vegas account advises people to be wary of people contacting them seeking money. Jail staff will never contact you asking for money in exchange for someone's relief, the post said.

Don't give anyone your personal information, and be aware that scammers are trying to get money.

The city advises people to file a report with the North Las Vegas Police Department if they have been targeted by this scam.
