LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A pedestrian was hit and critically injured following a crash in the downtown Las Vegas area, according to police.

It happened on Friday around 10:20 p.m. along 1st Street and East Ogden Avenue.

The pedestrian had serious injuries and was listed in critical condition, police told 8 News Now.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital, and the driver involved stayed at the scene as police investigated the crash.

Drivers should avoid the area as all lanes along northbound 1st Street before Ogden Avenue are closed.
