MADISON (WKOW) -- On Friday, Governor Tony Evers (D-WI) signed bipartisan legislation into law to allow registered nurses in the Badger State to become advanced practice registered nurses, or APRNs.
Being an APRN lets those nurses practice without collaborating with a doctor.
Two Republican lawmakers who authored the bill, Sen. Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point) and Rep. Tony Kurtz (R-Wonewoc), praised the signing of the bill, saying, "This day has been a long time coming...We are all deeply aware of the workforce challenges we face in our state when it comes to the healthcare industry, APRNs will help close that gap."
Governor Evers also praised the bill. Evers said the bill provides more opportunity to Wisconsin nurses.
