FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- For months, construction equipment has been parked around the intersection of Golden State Highway and Shaw in Northwest Fresno.

Slowly preparing for the High Speed Rail to eventually come through the area.

The growing pains are felt by some nearby businesses.

"We've had a number of people that have told us that they didn't come in for the reservation because they drove by and it looked like we weren't open, so they just kept on driving," said Shera Franzman, Forestiere Underground Gardens.

Forestiere Underground Gardens plans to remain open throughout the construction.

"So that has been a challenge for us because this would be peak season for us, and it's this time of year that really supports the restoration that we have going on in the winter months when
