WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Lions Club of Alabama, a regional chapter of an international organization, is bringing their spirit of generosity to Chatom.
On Saturday, Aug. 9, the Lions will host a service carnival at the Chatom Community Center, located at 233 Dixie Youth Drive, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The only cost for entrance is a canned or dry food item that will be donated to a local food bank.
The event will feature free vision and diabetic screenings, refreshments, face painting, and more. Participants can also make cards for pediatric cancer patients and hygiene kits for storm victims.
There will also be a speaker on the organization's social emotional learning program, Lions Quest. This initiative focuses on helping students face bullying or adverse life decisions.
