SALT LAKE CITY — Starting Friday, Utah’s creative community will gather at the Utah State Fairgrounds for Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival — a celebration of local artistry, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Among the hundreds of vendors showcasing handmade goods are dozens of young entrepreneurs, some still in elementary school.
One of the standout features of the festival is “Kid Row” — a program designed to give young student artists a resource for hands-on business experience.
Through funding supported by the Utah Afterschool Network , a group of 50 students have spent the past several months receiving free after-school mentoring and arts education, learning everything from marketing strategies to product development.
