HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu is honoring its Purple Heart medal recipients with new signs installed at eight locations across Oahu.

The “Purple Heart City” signs were unveiled during a special ceremony at Honolulu Hale to commemorate National Purple Heart Day.

“The men and women who have earned Purple Heart medals deserve our absolute highest praise and eternal gratitude,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “They put their bodies and their lives on the line to defend this country, to uphold freedom, and to protect all of us, and that should never be forgotten.”

Fort Shafter (H-201 westbound offramp)

Honolulu Hale

Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii (H-3 entrance)

Kapolei Hale
