HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are back and gearing up to put on a show in Windward Oahu.

Cmdr. Bryce Aubuchon called the spectacle of the demonstration team’s aerial acrobatics “very controlled chaos.”

The Blue Angels jets have been flying for 30 years, and are the oldest F-18s in the fleet.

The fighters used to be launched off the decks of aircraft carriers.

Kate Casabar, a Campbell High School graduate, is a mechanic for the team and keeps the fighters tight.

“This is my hometown, I’m glad to be back,” she said.

Casabar said she had never touched a tool before she enlisted in the Navy seven years ago.

“So coming here, joining the Navy, learning what a wrench was, what a socket was, and how to apply those skills, I’ve learned a new passion, a new hobby,” she
