MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Local firefighters and police are gearing up for the Battle of the Badges on Saturday, Aug. 9.

Battle of the Badges is a non-profit amateur boxing match between the two groups.

The competitors weighed in Friday evening, and went toe-to-toe at Walk-On’s in West Monroe.

All profits will be going toward MedCamps of Louisiana .

Event Director Officer Dennis Wall says not only does this event raise money for a good cause, but also sheds a positive light on our local first responders.

Wall says, “We want to honor the military, the first responders, EMS, everybody that puts it on the line every day. So that was kind of my goal this year to kind of focus on that. And, you know, just shine some light on us, come out and have a good time and support us. That’s the bigges
