BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Demolition has begun at an apartment complex in the Norwood community after a settlement agreement with the City of Birmingham.

This comes after a settlement agreement with Tutwiler Realty, the company that manages the apartments.

According to the settlement announced back on May 28, 2025, the owners had 90 days to remove all remaining tenants out of the complex.

The owner then had 120 days to demolish the buildings. That demolition is happening at the expense of Tutwiler Realty.

The City of Birmingham filed a lawsuit earlier in 2025 asking a judge to declare the complex a drug-related public nuisance, citing multiple police calls to the area.
