AUSTIN, Minn. — The Hormel Historic Home is set to host a Red Cross Blood Drive on August 12 as part of its Community Service Mission.

The event will take place at the Carriage Hall Event Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Hormel Historic Home encourages eligible donors to participate, noting that a simple blood donation can be life-saving for those in need.

Donors of all blood types are welcome, with a particular need for types O negative, B negative, and A negative. The Red Cross highlights that type O negative is a universal blood type, critical for treating trauma patients.

In addition to blood donations, the Red Cross will offer free A1C testing in August 2025, screening for prediabetes and diabetes. No fasting is required, and each donor can receive one test result per year.
