ALBERT LEA, Minn. — A heartfelt gathering of volunteers and community members took place at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds as they united for the Relay for Life event. The event aimed to honor loved ones and raise funds in the fight against cancer.

Cancer survivors began the evening with a lap around the fairgrounds. Diane Hanson, a planning committee member, shared her personal connection to the cause. "I had breast cancer. It's been 11 years, a survivor. My husband had prostate cancer, and he's a survivor of four years," Hanson said. She also mentioned the loss of two brothers and a sister-in-law to cancer.
