ATLANTA - Detroit Lions defensive back Morice Norris was carted off the field with what appeared to be a neck injury early in the fourth quarter of Friday's preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons .

Norris, who was competing for the No. 4 safety spot, was making a tackle on Falcons running back Nathan Carter on the first play of the fourth quarter when his head appeared to snap back as he made contact with Carter's right leg.

Medical personnel rushed onto the field and immediately signaled for a stretcher, and an ambulance pulled onto the field a few minutes later as players from both teams took a knee on their sideline.
