HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A family is speaking out one day after the Houston Police Department released body camera video of an officer shooting and killing a man.

That shooting happened back on July 7, on Waltrip Street and Rook Boulevard, after officers were trying to chase down a suspect, who they say had a gun and assaulted a woman.

Family members and attorney Randall Kallinen identified the man as 26-year-old Brendan Brown, and they believe officers did not follow protocol.

"He was executed. Why in the head? Why not tased? Or why, why this way? You just robbed him of his whole life, and you get to go home and enjoy your kid. I don't understand," the suspect's mother, Kimberly Gray, said.
