LUCAS, Texas — After years of working closely with the Collin County Sheriff's Office, Lucas is ready to take the next big step.
The city is planning to launch its very own police department by Fall 2026.
Mayor Dusty Kuykendall says this move comes as the city is booming with growth and the community’s needs evolve.
"The Lucas Police Department will allow us to better serve our citizens with faster response times, deeper community engagement, and a dedicated presence that reflects our values and priorities," Mayor Kuykendall said.
