ATLANTA -- The Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons preseason game was suspended after defensive back Morice Norris was carted off the field by an ambulance .

Norris suffered an injury while making a diving attempt at a run stop on the first play of the fourth quarter. The cart immediately was brought out, and the defensive back was removed from the field later by ambulance.

It was an emotional scene, with both teams visibly shaken up by the moment. The Lions and Falcons joined for a prayer near midfield as the clock continued to run, with officials suspending the game after a tense period of time.

Norris made an attempt at a diving run stop on Falcons running back Nathan Carter, when it appeared he took a knee to the facemask.

After a couple of minutes, trainers waved for the ambulance
