27 seasons in, “Big Brother” is still having things happen for the first time.

Ashley Hollis made “Big Brother” history on Thursday, August 7, by becoming the first houseguest to attempt to change an eviction vote cast in the Diary Room. Just before Ashley cast her vote during the live episode, returning player Rachel Reilly made one final plea asking her to keep her ally Jimmy Heagerty in the house.

Typically, houseguests who cross paths in the hallway outside the Diary Room fist bump or hug rather than making last-ditch pitches. But Rachel’s entreaty worked on Ashley.
