CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- When seconds count and skills matter, some Capital Region lifeguards dove into action to save a man’s life turning those teens into heroes.

While today’s demonstrations were just a drill, these are the same actions that were taken by teenage lifeguards at the Bethlehem Town Pool just a few days ago.

Piera McGaughan, Aquatics Director, said, “We had a male non-fatal drowning. Our lifeguards recognized that there was a person under water.”

McGaughan has been the aquatics director here at the pool for the last 24 years and she said she never had an emergency like this.
