August 15 will mark the 80th anniversary of the day the Second World War came to an end, with communities across Derbyshire celebrating and honouring those who served their lives for their country.

From Belper to Derby, many free events will be held to celebrate. In Derby 's newly reopened Market Hall, a free live music event will be held. Between 7pm and 8.30pm, vintage vocalist and entertainer Lady Lindy will bring 1940s music and atmosphere to visitors.

At the Kingsway Pub in Brackensdale Avenue in Derby , VJ Day celebrations will take place on August 16 featuring singer Rebecca Done, who will be performing 1940s songs. Between 11am and 1pm, there will also be a raffle with blackout cakes, biscuits and drinks available.
