A consumer specialist has issued advice to anyone purchasing food from major supermarkets including Sainsbury's, Tesco , Morrisons and Asda - revealing how to decode their 'secret code'.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning, expert Grace Forell explained that many shoppers were baffled after retailers eliminated 'best before' dates to reduce food waste.

She clarified that customers need to grasp what these labels actually signify - and what the 'internal codes' used by supermarkets truly represent.
