(WAND) - The EPA is clawing back $7 billion in federal grants for the "Solar for All" program that was passed under the Biden administration.

Elevate, a nonprofit, said the cut in grant money will harm energy affordability for low and moderate-income households.

The IPA added that the Illinois "Solar for All" program does not depend solely on federal funding, but instead uses the grant money as an additional budget.

Essentially, the IPA will continue to operate the program regardless of federal policy changes.
