CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- Illinois football had their first practice in pads Thursday night and Saturday they will have their first scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.
While the Illini's defense has several play makers returing Defensive Coordinator Aaron Henry says they are a different team this year.
After one week of practice under their belt he said they aren't where they want to be week one but are getting there. Even with having five starters back in the back field every day is a competition for a starting spot.
And heading into their first scrimmage on Saturday Henry wants to see what the defenses identity will be this season.
