EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A new multi-million dollar housing project is planned for Burkhardt Road.

That’s just one of many affordable housing projects going on across the city.

Kolbi Jackson, Executive Director of the Department of Metropolitan Development, said there is a large need for affordable housing in Evansville.

This is because people are facing housing cost burdens and sub-standard living conditions, she said.

“Evansville, along with many U.S. cities, are facing a housing crisis in terms of affordable housing,” Jackson said. “Where households, especially lower income households, are simply not able to afford, to get into a new home.“
