PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The Seattle Kraken's blue troll mascot, Buoy, and forward John Hayden have gone viral after a close encounter with a brown bear during a fly-fishing promotional shoot in Alaska.

The pair were at Katmai National Park promoting youth hockey and fishing when a bear came out of the trees and into the river near them. All of a sudden, it charged towards the film crew, splashing in the water until it caught a salmon and turned around. • Credit: @seabouy on X • Credit: @seabouy on X • Credit: @seabouy on X • Credit: @seabouy on X • Seattle Kraken mascot has close encounter with bear in Alaska July 31, 2025. While the bear seemed very interested in Buoy, it did not harm anyone. The organization had hired guides to keep all of the crew safe.
