The state of Washington is set to launch a new program offering official certification for LGBTQ+-owned small businesses at no cost.

Governor Bob Ferguson and the Office of Minority and Women's Business Enterprises announced that the initiative aims to enhance opportunities by linking these businesses with government contracts and partnerships.

To qualify for the program, business owners must identify as LGBTQ+, maintain at least 51% ownership and manage day-to-day operations.

"It's a particularly important moment to show our support as a state for the LGBTQ community. Washington state has a thriving, diverse business community," Governor Ferguson said. "This program ensures we are recognizing and supporting our LGBTQ business owners."
