COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Last month, some food banks across the Gem State started requiring an ID in order to receive food. Now, a Coeur d'Alene woman says the new bill is making her life more difficult.

For Sandra Pettis, getting food was already hard enough.

“It’s challenging physically and emotionally," Pettis said. "I’ve had too much! I’m 70 years old, and I’ve had too much to deal with, and I shouldn’t have to deal with worrying about getting food.”

She's lived in Coeur d'Alene for more than two decades, but because she's disabled, it's difficult to leave the house for anything, especially to pick up food. Now, she's facing a new hurdle at the food bank.
