A Hudson County man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman as she entered a home in Jersey City, officials with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said on Friday.
Richard Murphy, 35, of Jersey City was charged Thursday with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree burglary and third-degree assault, authorities said.
Jersey City police responded to Sussex Street just after 11:30 p.m. on July 26 for a report of a sexual assault, authorities said.
The woman told police that a man physically and sexually assaulted her as she entered a residence, officials said.
The woman was taken to Jersey City Medical Center to be treated for her injuries, according to officials.
Murphy was arrested Friday at Jersey City Medical Center and is being held at the Hudson County Correction
