Times Square shooting: Teenager arrested in New York as three people taken to hospital

A teenager is reported to have left three people in hospital after a shooting in New York's Times Square.

A 17-year-old was arrested in the tourist hotspot following the shooting.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) said it was a violent reaction to a dispute.

A police spokesperson quoted in The Independent said "All were taken to Bellevue Hospital and are in stable condition.

"The perpetrator was engaged in a verbal dispute prior to the shooting with one of the victims.

"He has been taken into custody and a firearm was also recovered. He has not been charged yet.”

Footage taken early in the morning on Saturday showed people running in fear and getting out of cars.
