BAXTER — A majority of Baxter businesses, at 60%, rated the chosen redesign for the highways 371/210 interchange as poor or very poor and 58% want major changes.

Those are the results from a business survey conducted by the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce and the Brainerd Lakes Area Economic Development Corp.

Matt Kilian, chamber president, presented the survey findings to the Baxter City Council on Wednesday, Aug. 6, during a council workshop.

The $58 million overpass project is lifting Highway 371 over the BNSF Railway tracks and Highway 210. The plan calls for construction to start on the project in 2028 and continue in 2029.
