For those paying attention, the Fargo Police Department has provided a free lesson in public information, transparency and accountability.

It stems from an incident in Fargo early Sunday, Aug. 3. Two shootings left two people dead and two others injured. As the hours passed, Fargo residents waited for word on the tragic happenings.

And waited. And waited.

A day and a half later — literally 36 hours later — Police Chief David Zibolski went public, telling the media that police are working the case and that residents are safe.

Why the delay?
