For great pianists, hours and hours of practice makes hand placement second nature and seemingly effortless. The same is true of people who skillfully craft beautiful braids, according to the founder of Girls Braids Club.

Soon after schools closed for summer, more than 50 girls in King County learned a special skill set that could last them forever — hair braiding.

Girls Braids Club this year hosted its third annual hair braiding summer camp for beginning braiders ages 7 to 19 in Auburn and Seattle. Every Saturday for four weeks, the girls learned different protective hairstyles that can prevent hair damage and assist in hair growth for textured hair.
