A 37-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a fiery crash Friday in Sarnia and is expected to survive, city police say.

Emergency crews were called to Indian Road and Talfourd Street around 4:20 p.m., where a car and motorcycle had collided, police said.

The vehicles were heading in opposite directions on Indian Road, both turning left onto Talfourd Street, police said.

The car driver didn’t see the motorcycle and turned into its path, police said.

The collision threw the motorcyclist over the hood of the car, and both vehicles ignited, police said.

“The car driver and his passenger exited to ensure the motorcycle rider was clear of the fire,” police said in a news release.
