A Nottingham city centre business owner has warned his trade has halved following the closure of a major road due to repairs to a sinkhole. Upper Parliament Street was closed on July 23 after a sinkhole was discovered while a sewer blockage was investigated.

The underground sinkhole was caused by a collapsed water pipe , with the repairs previously described as "deep and complex" by Severn Trent . The road was expected to reopen on Friday, August 8, but Severn Trent announced the closure will remain in place for another week . The repairs are now expected to be completed by Saturday, August 16, almost a month from the closure.
