ATLANTA — A police officer is dead following a shooting near the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Emory University’s Atlanta campus on Friday afternoon.

Reports began coming in around 4:50 p.m. at the Emory Point CVS near Clifton Road . The Atlanta Police Department said a single shooter is also dead.

DeKalb County Police said 33-year-old Officer David Rose died at Emory University Hospital after being shot during the incident. Authorities said no civilians were hit.

While the shelter-in-place order has been lifted, officials are still urging people to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
