SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — The Sumter County Coroner's Office has released the names of two women who were found dead along a rural Rembert area road on Friday afternoon.
Coroner Robbie Baker said the bodies found in a wooded area near Richbow Road around 1 p.m. on Friday were those of 35-year-old Christine Marie McAbee and 38-year-old Kristen Grissom, both of Charleston County. Baker said both deaths are being investigated as homicides, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office, which is also investigating the case, said a resident in the Rembert area found the bodies. Sheriff Anthony Dennis joined investigators at the scene on Friday afternoon as they secured it and searched for evidence.
