WASHINGTON, D.C. — The nation’s school milk processors have cut added sugars in flavored milk sold in schools by nearly 60% , surpassing a voluntary pledge ahead of government nutrition standards set to take effect this school year.

The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) announced Thursday that 37 school milk processors, representing about 95% of school milk volume in the U.S., reduced added sugars to an average of 7.2 grams per 8-ounce serving, well below the 10-gram limit set by the Healthy School Milk Commitment .
